The pure, unscented soap consists of nothing but coconut-derived sodium cocoate. The scented versions are made with essential oils.

SAVING THE RAINFOREST WITH HANDMADE SOAPS
The coconuts must be wild and collected by from pristine forest floors to be classified organic.
Furthermore, the supply of nuts must be from virgin rainforest supporting biodiversity and rainforest preservation.
Our farmer-suppliers therefore literally earn money by preserving their own rainforests in a virgin state.
EMPOWERING FEMALE FINANCIAL INDEPENDENCE
More than half of our suppliers are women, because harvesting coconuts involves less physical labour than traditional crops.

LOCAL PERSONNEL DEVELOPMENT & EMPLOYMENT
The number of employees is stable at around 40. The coconuts used by the factory represent the main income for over 200 local farming families who have long-term contracts for wild nuts with NIUGINI ORGANICS. We also support around 20 owners of small vehicles who supplement their income and transport the nuts of the village farmers to the factory.
Our founders Debra and Dennis (standing, 6th and 7th from the right) founded the business in 1994.

The COSMOS Standard ensures that Tropic Frond Oils Limited are meeting the correct standards when converting organic coconut oil into soap.
ACO Coconut Fruit and Oil Certification 2024
Tropic Frond Oils Limited (the Operator) manage a ‘Growers Group’ formed around the specific produce of coconuts.
In this scenario “groups of only small landholder farmers only are allowed to be certified where there is an umbrella company or management group that undertakes to maintain certification by entering into a licence agreement with the Australian Certified Organic Standard requirements”.
COSMOS Coconut Soap Certification 2024
The certified organic virgin coconut oil soap consists of pure Sodium Cocoate. The scented versions include essential oils.
The assessors have taken into consideration the general toxicological profile of each ingredient used, the chemical structure, the CIR panel evaluation where available, the level of exposure (full technical data and/or toxicology files are held for each ingredient) and a total daily exposure has been calculated along with the margins of safety for each ingredient. As a result of our evaluation the product has been classified as: SAFE.
Tropic Fronds Guidelines for Growers – Soil and Fertility Management
Collecting nuts must take place by hand after they have fallen to the ground. There is no need disturb the structure of the soil.
The use of external inputs of any variety is not permitted by Tropic Frond Oils. Forst soil is of a very diverse nature, where soil nutrients are naturally balanced and microbial life for production of humus is left almost completely alone.
Introduction of livestock is not permitted by Tropic Frond Oils Ltd. All landholders are advised in agreement that stock must not be grazed in these areas. This is detailed in the ‘Coconut Growers Group Agreement’.
Tropic Fronds Guidelines for Growers – Pest, Disease and Weed Management
Pests, diseases, and weeds shall be proactively managed by any combination of the following:
· Naturally occurring biological control agents and the protection of predator habitats.
· Limited slashing to gain access to gain access to fallen nuts.
Tropic Fronds Guidelines for Growers – Water Management and Conservation
East New Britain has a tropical climate with significant rainfall all year round. Water management is not deemed necessary even within the dry season due to high rainfall and naturally good water carrying capacity of the soil.
Tropic Fronds Guidelines for Growers – Sustainability and Biodiversity Aspects of the Production System
Tropic Frond Oils Mgt of the Growers Group shall aim to ensure protection for regionally native bush areas by promoting aspects of the practice of Wild Harvesting. The aim is to enhance biodiversity with Grower’s land, enabling “ecosystem services” to enhance the productivity and sustainability of the organic farming operation and the surrounding environment. This will be monitored in the annual grower audits.
Coconut Palms must be varieties indigenous to the local area and at least 20 years old and there is to be no intensive ground-story intercropping between coconut palms.
Management inputs are generally limited to the hand slashing of grasses and small shrubs around the bases of palms to permit the collection of fallen coconuts. Please note the following:
• Clearing of mature forest trees is not permitted.
• Clearing of any species close to waterways is not permitted.
